I never played volleyball until I skipped sixth grade for academic reasons and went straight to seventh grade. I enjoyed being able to learn a variety of skills and play all around the court. I played junior high volleyball in both seventh and eighth grade. I became a starter on both the C-Squad and B-Squad teams my freshmen year (though I was technically the age of an eighth-grader). I then transferred schools and became a starter as a sophomore and I have worked to keep my position since.
I never thought of volleyball being a serious part of my life until I transferred schools between my freshman and sophomore years. I was very lucky to have my previous coaches instill strong fundamentals in me, and am even luckier to have my current coaches who have truly shaped me into the player I am now. Ever since I made the Varsity team as a starter and started to really learn what I could do, I started to envision a future with volleyball. It is my main goal to play volleyball past high school. I love the sport so much and want to continue improving in every aspect.
If I had to describe the type of athlete that I am, I would say my best quality is my court IQ. I am great at knowing when to swing and where to swing versus when to use a tip into the defense's holes.
Besides volleyball, I also take my academics very seriously. I have high expectations and goals set for myself and I am determined to accomplish them. One of those goals is to earn my one-year college certificate. I am doing this through taking dual-credit courses so I am taking college classes to earn not only high school credits but also college credits.
