Personal Statement
Looking back I realize that volleyball has been an important part of my life since fifth grade. My parents always wanted me to try multiple sports, but it was not until I stepped on the volleyball court that I felt truly at home. It has been a few years but I know more now than ever that I want to be a collegiate athlete while I am working on my degree.
I am proud to say that I found my voice on the court. My team looks to me to pick them up when a play does not go their way. Volleyball has taught me how to be a strong, confident leader on and off the court. Close games have taught me to perform well under pressure. I am able to remain calm and execute the plan that the coach lays out for us.
Although I love the game with everything I have to give, I know that my academics have to come first. I believe that having good grades is a reflection of how hard you are willing to work for things. A good education truly prepares you for the real world in so many ways. Even with the intense practice, game, and travel schedule I am committed to maintaining my 3.5+ GPA.
In my life I have figured out one thing I am absolutely certain about. I could not imagine my life without volleyball. I hope to continue my journey as a volleyball player in college. I want to make everyone who has supported me and my dream proud, especially my parents. I am hopeful that one day I can pass along my passion, knowledge, experience and love for the game like many have in my life so far!
