Personal Statement
Hi coaches! I’m back!! After sitting out much of last summer and fall with a leg injury, I am back on the court and ready for a great club season! My Air City Chicks 17-1 Pink team is training hard and playing better every day! Come see us at Presidents Cup in Columbus, Bluegrass, MEQ’s, etc. And let me know when you are there to watch so I can say Hi!
I love to compete. I started playing soccer when I was 2 years old. This was the beginning of my love for sports and competition in general. I began competitive Irish dancing when I was 5. I played high level select soccer and AAU basketball from 4-8th grades and learned to set goals for myself, push myself, and outwork everybody else until I achieved my goals or learned that new skill. I've played soccer, lacrosse, basketball, gymnastics, and volleyball. Of all of these I decided that I love to play volleyball the most! I've been playing club volleyball since 7th grade and I try to apply all of the lessons that I learned from each sport about working hard to volleyball and to the classroom.
Each year I've played club, I have played for a more competitive club team that plays at a higher level. Last year I played club for a club team in KY that practiced more than an hour away from my house. I loved it, and still maintained a weighted 3.8 gpa and played HS lacrosse in the spring, but it was a pretty far drive. This year, I am playing on a team that is closer to home so that I can spend even more time studying and focusing on my grades. I really enjoy doing community service, extra time at the gym and I have a part-time job too! I just recently started rowing for a local club team which has been fun and a new challenge too.
I love to challenge myself every day and learn new skills to make myself and my team better. I love to do the extra work it takes to be extraordinary. I'm never worried about being the best player on a team, but I always strive to be the hardest working. In addition to my team practices and tournaments, I also attend additional setter training and outside strength and conditioning to work on my vertical and strength. I'm constantly looking for anything that I can do to improve my game, because I know when it's game time, all of my extra, hard work will pay off.
I started at setter as a sophomore on my HS varsity team, initially in a 6-2, also playing right side, but eventually in a 5-1. I am equally comfortable running both. As a setter especially, it is my job to help my teammates play their best so we can be successful. I strive to be the best leader for my team, both on and off the court. My HS coach has told me that my greatest strengths are a.) that I hate to lose and will do everything I can to help my team win, and b.) I know how to run an offense, even as an underclassman with older teammates. I believe my work ethic, drive and leadership will eventually help me contribute to the success of a college program. I hope you'll consider me for your team, in the class of 2023. Tuition Exchange. Rowing.
