Personal Statement
My name is Maley Tinstman and I attend Eaton High School in Eaton, Ohio. I have been playing volleyball since I was 9 years old. I love the sport and one day I aspire to play at the collegiate level. I hope to play for a competitive college who recognizes my hard work and passion for the sport of volleyball.
My first year of club volleyball was in 2010 for the Kaepa Borderline Club in Oxford, Ohio. I played at Borderline for 3 years before moving to Dayton Juniors in Fairborn, Ohio. I am currently still at Dayton Juniors.
I will continue to push myself to be the best at all that I do and will look for ways to excel in this sport. For the past three years, I have attended speed training and weight lifting four days of every week from December through July. I understand the time and commitment it takes to succeed in the sport of volleyball.
I carry this dedication into the classroom where I have consistently maintained Honor Roll status. I am currently on an advance track in Mathematics, having earned high school credit while in middle school. I have a 4.0 GPA, placing me at the top of my class. Both of my parents are educators which has helped me understand the value of grades and classroom performance.
I am a good candidate for your team because of my passion for competition. I work hard to improve my volleyball skills, my mental toughness, my academics and my body strength. I am very determined to do well in games, practice and in school. I strive to be a positive leader on and off the court. I consider myself to be a very coachable athlete. I love to learn and constantly improve on my skills in volleyball. I love asking questions and watching others to see what I can do to improve. I always try to keep a positive attitude on and off the court no matter what the scenario is. I consider volleyball as my happy place where I can go to have a good time and clear whatever is on my mind.
I am different from other recruits because I have fantastic grades. I know what it takes to be a successful student-athlete and I know how to balance my school work, extra curricular activities, sports, and my family activities.
I hope to play volleyball in college and further my education in the field of Biology.
Thank you for your time!!

Freshmen Update (2015):
During my Freshman season, I started out on the Junior Varsity squad. I was a starter and voted captain. In the middle of the season I was moved up to the varsity team. I continued to play Junior Varsity while logging minutes for our varsity team that had eight seniors out of the 12 player roster. The Junior Varsity squad finished with a record of 15-7. The Varsity team finished the season with a 23-3 record and were conference champions, sectional champions, district champions and regional semi-finalists.
Sophomore Update (2016):
I was asked to be the Varsity libero during my Sophomore season. I was the back-up setter to a Senior who was 3rd team all-state. I had never played Libero before, but quickly learned my new position. I really enjoy being a setter, but also like the challenges as a Libero. For my team, I was named Defensive Player of The Year. I was on the SWBL Principal Scholars list and I led my team with 263 digs and 51 services aces in 23 matches. We finished the season 13-9.
Junior Update (2017):
Our all-state setter graduated and I was switched back setter for my 2017 school season. I have had experience setting, so it was a very easy switch for me. I really enjoy being a setter, but I did miss the passing/digging for my team as the libero. This year, I earned Honorable Mention in the Southwestern Buckeye League and was on the SWBL Principal Scholars list. I led my team with 357 assists and 56 service aces in 23 matches. We finished the season a disappointing 10-13.
