I began playing volleyball at a very young age, 3rd grade to be exact. I played CYO from 3rd grade through 8th grade and started playing club in the 5th grade. I have been playing both ever since. This will be my 9th year of dedication to the sport. My primary position is outside hitter. More important than just my love for volleyball is what it has taught me over these past years. The leadership skills I have achieved through being part of such a great community are qualities I pursue both on and off the court. I believe that I am different than the other athletes thinking about playing in college as I push myself each and everyday to improve no matter how much progress I think I have made thus far. No matter my skill level, I believe that I always have room for improvement and I feel that this is one of the most important qualities of being "coachable." I recently underwent serious knee surgery and was told I would not be back for junior season at all. Despite the surgeon's expectations, I worked as hard as I could each and every day, allowing me to play for the last three weeks of the season along with playoffs. Since my coach saw my dedication, leadership and support for my team through all the practices I attended, my coach started me Varsity in the last 7 games of the season. This was a rewarding experience as I previously felt very discouraged. I proved to myself that with hard work and a positive attitude, I can do anything. I am encouraging to all my peers on and off the court. Every coach I have ever had always tell my parents and I that I am "the piece the team was missing!" I am proud to say that I am able to maintain great grades, work a job, and still have commitment to my volleyball team.
