I aspire to be a collegiate athlete. I love volleyball, and I want to associate myself with peers and mentors focused on similar goals. I want to be a part of a volleyball family and compete with my sisters at the highest level. I am driven and goal-oriented since a very young age.
I will be a team contributor because I have a work ethic unmatched by my peers. I have been voted team captain by my teams because I set the bar high for my team members and myself. I am always going above what is expected of me to improve my game and drive towards success. For example, beyond my weekly team practice, I set up skill training sessions with my coaches, and I have also recruited a group of my teammates to strength train and condition twice a week while we are in season. Every day, I am looking for ways to better my game, whether it be my strength, speed, knowledge of the game, my skills for setting, blocking, serving, digging, and hitting. I also look for ways to maintain positive mental health to ensure I am fresh and bring my best self to the court.
What makes you different from other recruits in character, athletics, and academics?
I am loyal, dedicated and driven. Currently, my work ethic sets me apart from other 15-year-olds. I also can translate or implement what my coaches are requesting of me into action. I have strong muscle memory and body awareness, which makes me coachable and flexible to the various coaching opinions or strategies I am learning.
I am a 4.0 student, and my grades are not easy A's. I have the same dedication to the classroom as I do on the court. I have to work hard for my grades. I am not a great test-taker, so I have strategies to prepare for each test and successfully tackle them. I also am proactive with building relationships and communicating with my teachers. I stay on top of my due dates and speak up early and often if I do not understand a concept because my time is limited with a busy extra-curricular load.
