Personal Statement

As high school graduation quickly approaches, I've decided to continue my career education and become a kindergarten teacher! I find little kids so adorable and amusing, and just love the things they say and do. Growing up with a huge family, I've spent a lot of time with young children, and love seeing them develop into great people. I want to continue to teach inquiring minds and help them become confident learners. My goal is to be able to set them up for success and see them grow. While furthering my education, I would also love to continue competing.

Sports have been a part of my life since I could walk! It all started with t-ball when I was just four years old, and I've been playing since. My main positions are pitcher and second base, and I've competed on a travel team since I was 12. In addition, I was also a pickup player for teams in need whenever I had a free weekend. I enjoy meeting new teammates, experiencing the different dynamics of each group, and I especially appreciate learning new things from new coaches. I would definitely credit my mental toughness to pitching over all these years. It's taught me to stay focused, ignore self-doubt, and overcome adversity. All of which I use in volleyball as well, and in everyday life.

Volleyball became my obsession in the third grade. I remember moving into our house and the walls were freshly painted. Unbeknownst to me, I began practicing my passing repeatedly against the wet paint, leaving several marks behind - Whoops! Luckily my parents weren't too upset. I've had a volleyball in my hands since. Practicing day after day against that same wall, my parents finally signed me up to play volleyball in the fifth grade. I played for a club team and have been hooked since. I continued to play all throughout middle and high school, both for travel teams and for my school. I received first team all league libero as a freshman and a sophomore and received second team all state libero as a sophomore. I am looking forward to being a part of a great team that I can call family.

I'm mentally strong, coachable, positive, upbeat, and supportive of my teammates. I'll continue to play hard and improve my skills, and be all I can be for my team, my coaches and myself. I love the game and I love to compete!
