Personal Statement
Playing college volleyball has always been a dream of mine from when I first stepped on the court 7 years ago. I have always been a gym rat, attending practice 3-4 times a week, either shagging or playing with the "big girls". I feel as if I would make a good addition to any team because I strive to always do my best, not only on the court but in life. I have a competitive and encouraging attitude when I play. I take constructive criticism well and I know there is always room to improve. I do not play for myself, I play for the team, I got along with the girls on every team I have played on both on and off the court. Volleyball has helped me make friends and build strong relationships with the girls and coaches. When I am on the court I feel secure and elated. Not only do I enjoy playing, but I love to coach younger girls. It reminds me of when I was younger and how I looked up to my sister, always wanting to be like her. Coaching has not only improve my skills, but it helps me become a better player and person. In addition to playing club and high school volleyball, I also play beach doubles, grass doubles, grass quads, intramural and middle school leagues.
I have learned to play every position and it has not only helped me in my skills but I developed court sense. I realize that the sport is not only physical but mental as well. I have learned to balance out my activities, always keeping academics and school a priority. I feel I would be a great addition to any team not only because of my volleyball skills but my outgoing personality as well. I was taught to be an ambassador of the sport, and I know volleyball is something that I want to carry throughout the rest of my life....
