Personal Statement
I attended a private grade school where I was given the opportunity to play volleyball and it was one of the impactful decisions I have ever made. Over the past seven years, six of them spent on the club team I still currently play for, I’ve spent countless hours practicing and playing. A combination of workouts with my high school varsity team, my club team and private lessons have all helped me grow and develop as a player. The various teammates I’ve played with and the coaches I’ve had along the way have introduced me to so many relationships that I value.
I’ve been fortunate to have club coaches and a high school coach that have taught me more than just the game of volleyball. They’ve taken the time to explain the importance of a growth mindset when it comes to improving my game and they’ve given me a chance to develop leadership skills as a team captain. My parents have also been great role models, teaching me about commitment, sacrifice, and positivity both on and off the court. They’ve also taught me the importance of hard work and persistence not only in volleyball but in my academics as well. I am looking for a college program that will allow me to create relationships and be a fit for me athletically but also academically.
