2017 HighlightsPersonal Statement
When I was younger, my parents encouraged me to try different sports so I played softball, basketball, golf and soccer. But when I entered middle school, I discovered volleyball. This quickly became my favorite sport and one that I became passionate about. Knowing that both of my parents played sports in college, this has encouraged me to believe that I too can play in college if I work hard enough. Playing volleyball in college is my ultimate goal so I am working hard to achieve this through playing on my school's varsity volleyball team, playing on a travel team that attends power league tournaments, and working out on a consistent basis. I also believe Girl's Preparatory School is giving me the tools to be a successful student as well. My everyday classes are considered honors classes at other schools and I am continually improving my time-management skills. I aspire to become a doctor so I am very serious about my studies. Helped design and construct a cardboard boat to compete in boat race in which our team won, Played important role while participating in Mock Trial against area schools, Received Freshman of the Year on the varsity volleyball team 2015 Received Offensive Player of the Year on the varsity volleyball team 2016 as Sophomore. Played Varsity Lacrosse (Spring 2017) Received 3rd place for my oil painting of a french horn in the Congressional Art Contest. The painting will hang in Congressman Fleischmann's office for a year (http://www.chattanoogan.com/2017/5/3/347343/3-GPS-Students-Recognized-By.aspx) Ranked in top 10 area volleyball players in the categories of Aces, Kills, and Blocks (Sept 2017). Scored 99th percentile in English/Reading section on PSAT, 96th percentile overall.
- ActivitiesWas asked by High School Administration to be a hostess to incoming students 2015-16, Was asked by school volleyball coach to assist her in an admission event at school, Was asked by Baylor High School coach to participate in training session for travel ball coaches, Was asked to help at Junior Cotillion assisting director with 100 eighth graders in the area, Participating in my church's youth choir which will visit prisons in New York in the summer of 2016, Involved with youth mission trip to Chicago in the summer 2016. Participated in Habitat for Humanity projects. Earned Distinguished List both semesters (2016/17) Participated in Candlelight - a joint Christmas cantata with the McCallie School. Was involved in the Health, FCA, and Habitat Humanity Clubs (2016/17) Participated in mission trip to Washington D.C. (June 2017).
