I was taught through multiple times of failing that if you don’t have passion for anything that you are doing you will give up. No matter how many times I fail in volleyball, giving up never crosses my mind because I'm very passionate about this sport and playing at a high level with a great academic program will be an excellent opportunity that I will enjoy receiving. I believe Opposite Hitter is best suited for me because of the obstacles that you face when in the position. The amount of mental strength that you have to manage in the game especially on defense makes the position so intriguing. As a leader of my club team , there always had to be a plan, a reason behind the plan, and why. There is a quote that helped me understand the meaning of compassion and understanding, “No matter how educated, talented, rich, or cool you believe you are, how you treat people ultimately tells all. Integrity is everything”-unknown. I chose to set the example of compassion and understanding on and off the court because the way you treat people is most important. As well as that, I'm a very ambitious person who’s obsessed with improvement by giving 100% percent and I want my teammates to do the same. The challenge that I faced from my recent club year of getting the opportunity to play in an 18s league at only 15 years old, challenged me and made me work harder and improve in everything. As time goes on and I continue to improve I will be able to see the results when I become a senior to then get those results and improve more.
The mentality I have for volleyball doesn’t change about my academics. My interest in English and the complexities of science to the medical field, I don’t particularly know what to do in the medical field. I just find an interest in majoring in the medical field. Having a plan in attempting to figure out something you find interesting but you don’t really understand, science, correlates to complex moments where strategy is most important in volleyball games explaining why I find the subject interesting.
