Personal Statement
My name is Emma Vu, and I'm a class of 2022 setter from Allen, Texas. I began playing volleyball about eight years ago because many of my family members enjoyed playing. From the moment I stepped onto a volleyball court I knew I never wanted to leave. Even then I worked to get smarter, faster, and stronger every single day to be the best player I can be. When I'm in the gym my focus is to not only to enhance my skills, but help in bettering my teammates. My ultimate goal is to play on a competitive college volleyball team at a school that offers a distinguished business program.
I am a versatile player and a leader. I am the setter for the Allen High School varsity volleyball team. I also am the 5-1 setter and team captain for my club team, Dallas Premier 17 Black. I lead by example, encourage my teammates, and hold everyone to a high standard so the team will push themselves to improve. I am passionate, hard-working, and coach-able. I work diligently in both team practice and individually outside of practice to develop my skill set and improve in a game I absolutely love.
Off the court I am a straight A, gifted and talented program student with a 3.7 GPA. I am also an Ambassador in Girl Scouts and have been in the program since kindergarten. Besides volleyball I enjoy doing community services projects, crocheting, painting, and spending time with my family, especially my three brothers.
Everything I do receives my full dedication, commitment, and curiosity, especially when I am playing volleyball. My love for the game is undeniable and will stay with me for the rest of my life, so I hope to continue playing competitively through college.
