Personal Statement
I was recently asked a couple of questions, what does volleyball mean to me and what can I bring to a team. These questions I intuitively feel and know what they mean to me, but to express is more difficult. The best way I can describe it is...VOLLEYBALL is part of my DNA, I think about it constantly, I am always setting goals and challenging myself to ensure I am the very best I can be. I'm extremely competitive in everything I do. I have a family that supports me in everything I do and is there pushing me to do more and to be diverse in my skillset. I am a student athlete, I show livestock in 4-H, I compete in leadership activities in FFA and I focus on my academics. As an athlete I have been fortunate to be placed on national teams with club, selected for the A team both in 7th and 8th grade out of 100 girls competing for a few select spots in a 5A school district, Dripping Springs, and now as a Freshman and Sophomore, I have been selected to play varsity at Blanco High School. With 4-H, I show market steers and I have been fortunate to place at every major livestock show in Texas. There are very few young people that have accomplished this. I have been selected as a leader within 4-H, I have held two offices, one as a treasurer and the other as a parliamentary delegate. Academically, I am focused and maintain my grades, and as a result, I have been a member of the National Junior Honor Society while in middle school.
What can I bring to a team... leadership, leading by example and focusing on the team being successful. I have been told a time or two that I am extremely coachable and listen to criticism and don't get thrown by it. I recognize I can always do things better. I am a solid player and build relationships easily. I'm sure there are others out there that are better than me, but I bring not only my skill, but my ability to learn, lead, and commit to a program.
