Personal Statement
When I think about collegiate goals and aspirations, the ultimate goal is to play volleyball with a program that will genuinely appreciate my talent, while I earn my Bachelors Degree in education. Knowing that I am often the first to arrive and last to leave at training sessions or tournaments while being one of the hardest working players on the court, will make me an asset for your program.
I set myself apart in character, athletics, common sense and academics with my ability to see the positive aspect of a negative outcome. As a two year captain in club ball and 1 year captain so far in high school, if my volleyball team loses a set or even match, I think about all of the things our team was able to learn from losing. This prepares my teammates for future success, without dwelling on the actual loss.
Athletically, my lack of height has pushed me to become a gym rat. I know that working harder, longer, and with more reps to increase my speed has been the key to my success so far. In school, I look at a bad grade and use it to better prepare myself for the next quiz, test or essay. I must remain positive, keeping my head up so that I am able to lift others up when they are down. My personal philosophy is: “ a person only loses if their full effort isn’t put into everything they attempt”.
