I grew up playing soccer. My mom grew up playing soccer, so she introduced it to me at four years old. I really enjoyed it, and played it at a highly competitve level for many years. However, during middle school I first stepped onto a volleyball court and fell in love. I no longer wanted to juggle or dribble the ball in the back yard; I wanted to set and hit and pepper. I tried out for a club volleyball team and made it. I was going to try to continue to play with my club soccer team and play club volleyball my freshmen year, but my heart just wasn't in soccer anymore. I made my decision to focus on volleyball, and I am so glad that I did. I crave practice and being in the gym as I never turn down an opportunity to get better, to get touches. I even asked my dad to build a sand volleyball court in my backyard so I could practice, and he did.
I have aways dreamed of being a college athlete. It is in my genetics! My dad was a defensive lineman at the University of Texas, and I have grown up looking at his game balls that he won and watching him play on ESPN when they show the classics. My mom was a goalkeeper at Angelo State, and I've seen her pictures and awards. My aunt played soccer at SMU and was a Parade All American. My grandpa was a JUCO All American baseball player at Blinn College and then went on to play at Sam Houston. I am destined to play college volleyball, and I will do whatever it takes to make that happen!
