My name is Willo Hawkins from Prosper, Tx where I recently moved from Palmer, Alaska in the summer of 2019. Living in Alaska made chances for me to play volleyball limited, but moving to Texas where my parents are from has opened up a lot of opportunities. Adjusting to Texas volleyball has been very fun as the pace is much faster and we get to play a lot more at the school and club levels. Volleyball is one of the most important aspects in my life. I started playing volleyball in 5th grade and playing competitively in 7th grade. I was the only 7th grader selected to the 8th grade team and was first made aware of Club Volleyball that year. At the end of that season I was awarded with the “most coach-able” award. My 8th grade year I was awarded the team MVP award at the end of the season for always being aggressive and never quitting. My coach called me “Goldy” like a Golden Retriever, because I would always go after the ball and never take my eyes off of it. Later that year, I was on the 14U ACE travel team, it was my first opportunity to go out of Alaska for volleyball. My freshman year I was moved to Libero, which I absolutely love because I get to do all components of volleyball (dig, set and attack). During my Freshman school season I was awarded “All Tournament Team” at both of our season tournaments. I look forward to growing as a volleyball player and student. I have recently decided I want to pursue a law degree with possible aspiration of joining the FBI of CIA in the future.
