Personal Statement

My name is Jenny Tackett. I was recruited by and played for Cameron University in Lawton, OK as a Middle Blocker during the Fall semester of 2015. I requested to be released from the team at the end of the season and am looking to transfer to a new university for the upcoming Fall semester of 2016.   Cameron is a wonderful University, but I feel strongly that it was not the right fit for me.  I am hopeful that I will find a new team and new home before next fall to allow me to contribute to the team.  I am very competitive and am looking to play for a college with a team that is competitive as well as an opportunity to continue to grow and excel as in individual by playing the game of volleyball and being part of that team.

My preferred position is Middle Blocker,  but have played Right Side as well. I played for the volleyball club TAV for 3 years, and played at Blocksport volleyball club for my 18's year under the instruction of Ty Jenkins.  My best asset and favorite volleyball skill is running quick sets behind the setter off of one foot,  as well as quick sets in front of the setter.

I have always been a team player.  Volleyball is a top priority to me, and I have always done whatever I can to push myself and my teammates to become better than any of us could ever imagine.  Whether it be practice, a tournament, or even a single match, every point matters and it is important that everyone give every bit of energy, enthusiasm, and heart when they step out on the court. I know that there is always room for improvement and that humbles me.

With an aspiration in a particular field of Criminal Justice, I plan to build on my current knowledge and skill to shape myself into a knowledgeable, employable, and professional person.  I plan to major in Criminal Justice in hopes that I can one day hold a job as part of the FBI.  I have always been interested in the field and I have always known that I would be very content and happy to have a job of that nature.

No matter what task I am meant to complete, I will not stop until I figure out a way to get it done. Whether it be a difficult problem on a test in school, or an adjustment that a coach asks me to make to improve my level of play. I will keep trying until I feel confident with the work that I put in and that my work makes for an amazing outcome. I put in a lot of effort to make myself better, but I put just as much work in, if not more to encourage my teammates to be better as well. Whether it be a strenuous work out, or a drill that we are struggling to complete. I will never quit on my teammates, and I will never quit on myself.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
