My interest in volleyball began in 1st grade when I watched my twin sisters play for our local youth association. Unfortunately, the association rules prohibited me from playing until I was in 3rd grade, but as soon as I was eligible, I jumped at the chance and have been playing ever since.
Over the last eight years of playing volleyball, I’ve learned that what’s most important in any sport is to have perseverance, ambition, commitment, determination, obedience, and sacrifice; PACDOS! There have been many setbacks and times that I lack these key concepts, but they always come back to me when taking on an attitude of practicing harder, playing with all I’ve got, and refusing to give up to climb on top. It’s important to me that I obtain these qualities because if I were to choose a teammate to be on my team, I would look for these traits in a player because I know that I can always count on them. Skills are one thing, but a person’s mindset and attitude are just as important, if not, more. One of the biggest sacrifices I made for volleyball was quitting basketball, a sport I had been playing since 2nd grade, but it was a sacrifice I was willing to make to further my skills in volleyball. I’ve also learned over the years that “perfect practice makes perfect,” and that means giving 110% into practices, games, health, training, my attitude, and schoolwork as well.
I am not one to give up, a good leader on and off the court, a coachable player who’s willing to fix any mistakes or any critique given, and I have a creative mind that always finds unique ways out of problems. You can always count on me to bring my friendly and goofy personality to turn around a gloomy mood in any situation on and off the court. I love making my friends laugh or put anyone in a joyful mood because that’s what makes me happy! I care about others, so putting them before me is always essential, especially when working with a team. There is no “I” in team and being a team player is a huge part of volleyball. I am committed to being a team player at a college that would provide me that opportunity!
I would like to attend a school where I have an opportunity to pursue my dream of becoming a Physical Therapist. I have been exposed to classes at my high school that have led me to decide that this is the path I want to take in life and I would like to further my knowledge by majoring in Exercise Science or Kinesiology. I am enthusiastic and so excited to reach my future goals, especially in a field of study where I get to work with people and help them reach their own personal goals. It’s really important to me that I attend a school that has my major so that I can get the education I want to pursue this dream!
I want to keep an open mind about my recruiting decision, so please don’t hesitate to reach out and send me information about camps, the team, or the school in general. I would enjoy learning about new colleges and being able to consider a wide variety of schools that I wouldn’t have stumbled across without NSCA. Thank you for taking your time to read a little bit about me, I would love to hear a little about you!
