Personal Statement
Although I recently became involved in competitive volleyball, I’ve been a fan of the sport since elementary school and always aspired to be a talented player. I’ve worked very hard to obtain skills in all positions and know that if I get the opportunity to play in college I will continue to grow as a player. I will be an asset to the team by providing energy, encouragement to my teammates and doing my best on the court during practices and games. Throughout my academic career, I have been able to manage the numerous clubs, sports and activities in my schedule, maintaining good health, spending time with family and completing school assignments. During my sophomore year, I was selected for my school's varsity team. I was not familiar with competing at such a high level, so throughout the season I was advised to observe and learn. Although being on the sidelines was frustrating, the experience taught me endurance, patience and determination to grow and improve as a player. I did my best to exhibit a positive attitude at all times and was a cheerleader. Towards the end of the season, I did earn some playing time and always took advantage of the opportunity to showcase my abilities. I now am a starter on my 17s club team and have obtained more knowledge of the sport. The values and good habits that I have acquired from my experiences will make me a beneficial addition to any collegiate volleyball team.
