Personal Statement
My name is Lauren Sanden, and I am a 6-rotational OH/DS for the graduating class of 2021. I started playing volleyball in sixth grade and continue to love the sport more every year. When I am on the court, my goal is to not only make myself a better player, but my team as well. As a well-rounded volleyball player, I am able to play any position on the court based on the needs of the team.
I am looking for a preferred walk-on option for the DS/L position. My goal is to play for an academically competitive volleyball school. I am looking at highly selective schools, of a medium size, with a well-respected academic and athletic reputation. I am currently enrolled at Riverside High School, and the Loudoun County Academy of Engineering and Technology, and attend both schools on an every other day basis. I work very hard in all of my academically challenging classes to take advantage of the many opportunities offered to help prepare me for a successful college experience. In college, I am interested in studying biomedical engineering, engineering sciences, and data analytics.
My favorite volleyball experiences so far have been placing third at the 2019 Capitol Hill Classic, first at 2018 Capitol Hill Classic, third at the 2017 AAU National Championships and being able to compete in the 2018 and 2017 USAV Girls Junior National Championships. These tournaments pushed me to improve my physical and mental toughness as a volleyball player. My volleyball experiences have taught me how to work well with other people, persevere through challenging situations, and have good sportsmanship at all times.
When on the volleyball court, I am a dynamic player with a positive attitude. I know that my dedication, integrity, and competitiveness as a volleyball player will help me to be an asset to my team and the academic institution where I study.
