I started playing volleyball in fourth grade. I had so much fun even from the start, although I never knew how much I would grow to love the sport. Now I can't imagine life without volleyball and I hope that I can continue to pursue my passion with this sport into college and later on into life.
On the court I am great at working with my teammates to figure out the other team's weaknesses so that we can win. I also encourage my fellow players even when they make mistakes because positive energy is the most important thing to have on the court and it can totally change the way people play. In addition to a consistently positive attitude I am able to work angles when hitting and am able to place my serves so that I can hit the weak or difficult spots for the other team. I am always looking to get better and love getting feedback and constructive criticism, not only from my coaches, but also from other players. I also try to return this favor to other players on the court so that they and our team can grow as a whole.
In the classroom, I push myself by taking the hardest classes that I can. In addition to being a year ahead in school, I have been and continue to be enrolled in all honors and AP classes possible. I not only pay attention in class to do well on exams, but I focus so that I can learn because I truly value the opportunity I have to get such a great education and I want take advantage of this time when I can pursue and field in order to find out what I'm interested in.
When I am not in school or playing volleyball I play softball in the spring for my school, along with other pick up sports games with my friends and family. I also like to dabble in different hobbies: painting, photography, community service, Spanish speaking activities, and various Christian organizations. I like to keep myself busy because it pushes me to manage my time wisely, get tasks done on time, and make the most of the time I have when doing various activities.
I would like to attend a college that pushes me academically and prepares me for my future. I also would love to be playing volleyball at the highest level of competition because it has been a great community and I know that it can only get better. In college I also seek to be involved with my peers: through volleyball, along with clubs, activities, and academic groups.
