Amaya Roberts '20 Recruiting Profile

One of the best experiences I've ever had was during my sophomore year playing on Sehome High Schools Varsity Volleyball team. We were a team that consisted of one senior, three juniors, six sophomores, two freshman and we were underestimated the whole season. Each of us knew we had the ability to do great things together and made a goal to make it to state... little did we know that dream became reality. The whole season we struggled to find the place where we really worked together as a team, during practice everybody gave it their all, but we were missing something. Once districts came along everyone was surprised we made it this far. However we finally clicked and it was perfect timing, we played in the district championship and came second to the state champions (Burlington Edison). Moving into state our team became a family and ended up placing sixth. We won more games post season than during our actual season, we stayed persistent and played our hearts out. In return it payed off. I will never forget the feeling I had when we made it to the district championship and were guaranteed a spot at state!

I work hard on and off the court, I try my best academically and don't let sports or anything else get in the way. In the future I would like to be a PE teacher and do circuit training at a high school level or an occupational therapist. In May of 2018 I started going to crossfit classes 3-4 days a week, during school I go at 5:30 am. I am also doing running start and plan to graduate high school with my AA degree. I am a team player and try my best to better the team, not just myself, in any way I can. I also consider myself consistent in most areas of volleyball and would be happy to play any position I am needed for.
