Hello, My name is Samantha Stairs, but my friends and teammates call me Sami. I am on Strike Force U18 and this is my 5th year of playing competitive volleyball. In addition to playing this season, I am also helping coach my clubs U14 & U16 teams as well as Officiating. Before I started my volleyball career, I had played soccer for 6 years and during my volleyball career, I played basketball and track for 2 years. During those 6 years of soccer, I learned a lot of valuable lessons that helped me become a better athlete and a better person. When my soccer career came to an end I wanted to still be playing competitive sports and to be on a team. While I did soccer, I would do volleyball camps for fun but never really thought about playing it until my 7th-grade year when I had made my school's "A" team. From there I fell in love with the sport, with doing camps when I could over summer. Since my first year of competitive volleyball, I have been a Defensive specialist, Libero, Middle, and an Outside/Rightside Hitter and have competed in tournaments such as PNQ (Pacific Northwest Qualifier), Northwest Juniors Presidents Day Weekend tournament, Willamette Valley Classic and GJNC 2018 playing in 15 American. This year I have been a middle hitter, defensive specialist and a Rightside Hitter for my team (or wherever I am needed), and a Setter and a defensive specialist for U18 and I am always wanting to push myself to be the best that I can be. I’m also a very versatile player, from playing many positions in the past few years it’s really helped me grow as a player helping me be able to play anywhere on the court and help the team. In summer 2017 I decided to try beach volleyball, it was out of my comfort zone and I was trying something new yet I was still playing the sport that I love. Since the Summer of 2017, I still continue playing beach volleyball when I can through Sandstorm Beach Volleyball. I have competed in several beach tournaments since 2017 including the Seaside beach volleyball tournament in Seaside, Oregon and the USAV junior beach tour in Spokane, Washington and am planning to do many more.
I am always working my hardest and am striving to improve every day. I always am maintaining a good, positive attitude towards my teammates, my coaches and myself. I am a dedicated and supportive teammate, if something doesn't go as planned or a problem has occurred, I am always thinking of ways as to how it could be fixed.
My goal as a player is to play volleyball at the collegiate level whether it's indoor or sand and as for the future I hope to be coaching volleyball for kids, working with kids in general or to be working in the sports medicine or kinesiology field. For college, I am open to going anywhere in the U.S.
Thank you for taking the time to review my profile and I hope to get the opportunity to meet you in person someday!
Sincerely,
Samantha Stairs
