Personal Statement
My name is Claire Chier, and I absolutely love volleyball. I’m a junior in high school and am playing my seventh year of club. I’ve played as a pin-hitter throughout my career, and started setting in the fall of 2017 for my varsity team. I made varsity freshman as a right side, and we made it to the state finals. Last year I started and spun as a right side/setter, and again, we placed second in the state. This was a good year for me in terms of personal performance; I made first team All-Conference and All-Area; was recognized on the All-State Tournament Team, and was named honorable mention All-State.
I like to be a strong presence on the court; I am always communicating and trying to keep my teammates positive. I hold myself and my team to a high standard. I also have high academic standards; grades and learning are important to me. I have a 3.91 GPA, and scored a 27 on the ACT in June of 2017 immediately following my freshman year. I will be again taking it in December of 2018. I’m not firmly decided on what to study in college; I love chemistry, biology, and math, and am leaning towards exploring something in the medical field. I hope to continue my volleyball career in college, and would love to attend a school with a strong academic focus and a strong volleyball program.
