Personal Statement
My name is Victoria Van Dan and I’m a senior at Burlington High School in Wisconsin and will be a 2021 graduate. I began my volleyball career in 4th grade with Burlington Elite and have played with Milwaukee Sting VBC as a Setter since 2017.
Though last season was cut short due to COVID-19, we began the season strong and my team's connection proved successful on the court. Highlights for my club career include: Badger Regional Champion - Gold Bracket and Badger Power League Champion for 2018. I have been the Captain for my club team since 2015. I look forward to returning to Milwaukee Sting later this month.
I am currently the starting Setter for my high school varsity team. Most recently, we brought home the silver ball at the 2020 WIAA Division 1 state championship and closed the season with 18-1 record. We are the 2020 Conference, Regional & Sectional Champs. I played two years as the Captain for the JV1 team and we lead the conference undefeated both seasons.
Not only is volleyball a passion to me, soccer is as well and I enjoy playing it year round. I’m a 4-year letter winning starter for Burlington. I’ve been awarded the 1st Team award for Southern Lakes Conference as a Defender (2017) and Forward (2018) and the highest scorer (2018). I am also an All Conference & All County selection. The 2019 high school season was cut short due to the pandemic. I’m proud to be an Eagle and play with my Croatian Eagles SC 2003-RED soccer team, most recently bringing home the 2020 Wisconsin State Cup Champion trophy for U18. I play in the USYS MRL Premier I Division and was a USYS National League MWC Premier II Champion.
I enjoy encouraging my teammates on and off the court/playing field and believe demonstrating good sportsmanship and character are key to building a successful team. I believe I’m a well-respected player with a drive to compete. I wear my jerseys with pride.
When I am not suited up, I enjoy my classes. My career path of study is Medical/Science in nature with an interest in Sports Medicine, specifically in the technology and advancement of prosthetics for amputee patients who wish to return to athletics. I’ve worked hard to have perfect attendance my whole academic career. I am a Racine County 4-H Ambassador, a Junior Leader and club elected officer. Between the leadership skills I’ve gained from 4-H, my school leadership team and as a team player, I believe you will find that I am an excellent communicator and a well-rounded athlete.
