Personal Statement

Hi! My name is Erin, I have just completed my junior in high school and will be graduating in 2019. I've been playing since I was 8. I started on an all boys team since my small town didn't have girls water polo at that time. I traveled to the next town every day to learn how to play.   Since then, I have gained 7 years of club experience (I have played at JO's every year since I was 10), 6 years of ODP experience (I have made every zone team and played at the ODP National championships each year),  Varsity high school experience since my freshman year, and 10 years of club swimming. This season I was ranked #3 D2 player in my section, CIFSJS, and #8 in the combined ranking of top players in the Sac-Joaquin section, earning All-American. In addition, I was awarded All-Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

My strengths include an all-around understanding of most positions. I play center primarily, but I am also a strong attacker and defender. I also bring speed to my teams which I work hard on with my USA club  and high school swim teams. I am an aggressive player, a hard worker, and I never give up. I have a competitive drive and work hard to improve my skills and win games with my team.

The most significant experiences that I have had so far were during my sophomore and junior year high school seasons. During my freshman year on the varsity team, we only won two games and placed next to last in league. We buckled down as a team the next year and set a goal of improving our standing in league. My sophomore year, we ended up winning all of our games but two, finishing second place in league, and making it to sections for the first time in our school history. We even won our first section game. The following year we set our goals higher and ended up winning league and making it to the semi-finals in sections. This experience taught me that goal-setting, hard work, determination, and team unity can take you far. I have learned to never give up because success is just around the corner. I will bring this mental and physical toughness to my future team.

I am interested in studying kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science. In the future, I would like to work as a physical therapist, chiropractor, or coach. My grades are strong, and I bring the same work ethic that I have in the pool to my classes.

I hope you follow me!
