Personal Statement
My name is Kaia Levenfeld. I am a fast, versatile Attacker-Defender from Moraga, California. My goal is to attend a college that combines world-class academics with high-level NCAA water polo. I believe that talent is only part of success. Hard work and a supportive team are just as important.
As a starter on the Lamorinda 16U team, this summer I helped lead our team to 3rd place finishes at Junior Olympics and Club Champs, and 1st at Futures! I was selected as an Alternate Utility for the Cadet National Team. I also received Academic All American with Honors acknowledgement from USA Water Polo for get a 4.0 throughout my sophomore year.
A big part of my water polo success is my swimming. My sprint times are 25.4 for 50 free and 56.7 in the 100 free—and my most recent test set of 10 x 100’s with :10 rest was an average 100 time of 1:05. In addition to Varsity water polo, I've also swam on the Campolindo Varsity Swim Team since my freshmen year. During middle school, I swam competitively as a mid-distance swimmer with Orinda Aquatics. During this time, I achieved Junior Olympic and some Far Western qualifying times for my 100 fly, 100/200/500 free and 200 IM—excelling in long course.
For the past two years, I have volunteered as a swim coach with the East Bay Sea Serpents, the local Special Olympics swim team. I love teaching the kids, watching them lose their fear of the water and accomplish things they didn't think they could do. I'm looking to major in Health/Human Science or Kinesiology with the goal of getting my Doctorate of Physical Therapy. I'm drawn to that career because it combines my love of exercise with my persistent, optimistic and encouraging personality.
