Personal Statement
Thank you for taking an interest in me and reviewing my profile. I am very interested in attending a top academic university with a strong water polo program. I am an outstanding student interested in engineering or a science degree. I had a rigorous academic schedule during my junior year taking 5 AP classes.
I work hard to make sure I am valuable to any team I am on. This last season, our team won th CIF-SS Division 1 championships. I led the team in several statistical categories and was fortunate to have the winning goal in the CIF championship game off a set play.
I listen well and I am very coachable. My freshman year I was named MVP of my Junior Varsity team.
During the pandemic, I found ways to train by doing clinics with Tony and Rico Azevedo. I was able to train safely with them in a private pool in Long Beach, California.
I was also selected as one of eight female field players to train in his 6-8 Elite Academy full time in the fall/winter of 2020. I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to train and learn from Tony and Rico along with many other top coaches. I was selected by Tony to be one of 12 field players on his Azevedo All-Star high school team traveling to Croatia in August 2021 and then to Italy in 2022.
I have been told I am a very strong all-around player, have a high polo IQ, exceptional defense, (steals and field blocks) and both a strong and accurate shot.
I was selected for both the 2022 and 2021 USA Water Polo ODP Cadet regional (southern pacific) team.
Outside of water polo and my academics, I spend a good amount of time volunteering at our local soup kitchen and food bank. I have been recognized each of the last three years with the Unites States Presidential Service Award for volunteering more than 50 hours per year. To relax, I enjoy going to the beach and reading.
Thank you for considering me for your program.
