Hello Coaches! My name is Genevieve Milkie but I go by Eve. I am a Junior at Hillcrest High School and I can't wait to get started. I play goalie for my high school and club teams. Below is more information about what Water Polo and Swim mean to me. Thank you!
Being good at sports is not the only thing that makes a great player. To be a great player it takes communication, team work, and dedication. I have been playing the amazing sport that is water polo for five years. I started swimming when I was 6 months old and have been swimming consistently since. I realized I am better suited for a team sport and knew the minute I started playing polo, at age 12, I found my niche. I understand the game well enough to play field and goal however, in the net is where I play best and belong. As a goalie, communication is key with my team by telling the players where the ball is and where the next pass is going to coming from. This takes leadership and having the intuition on where to be and when to be there. Teamwork is integral in the success of the game. There is not one person that wins the game. As a team we work together and we win together.
What is the point of playing the game, putting your heart and soul into each and every pass, and giving it your all if you are not dedicated? If for even one second during a game you are not putting your all in, your team is going to suffer. Even if you are not the strongest, fastest, or best at playing the game, you are important to the team. Because to build a team, it doesn't matter where you come from, but how you come together. These points are very important to me because as a leader in the pool and in life, we all need to know these points to have an amazing game.
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to read this and for the consideration.
Eve
