Personal Statement
I want to go to a school with a good education and water polo team that will push and encourage each other to do better. I mention this specifically, because I haven't been on the best team where everyone wants to push each other. I've been on teams where everything I do I get yelled at by my peers for messing up, or getting "physical" with my team mates when I barely put my hand on them. I've been on teams where everyone wants to do the bare minimum of what the coach says and no one wants to try to learn form the drill, or why we are doing this in practice. I want to be on a team where everyone acts like everything their coach says is a game like situation. I want to be on a team where being physical is required because in girls water polo it's not only learning the game, it's learning where it's legal for me to grab and being okay with being grabbed because that's what water polo is all about. A little more about me is that I listen very well and try to execute what the coaches or team mates say into games and or practices.
I mainly play center, but I know the game well enough to play all the positions. Academically I have never missed a day of school from elementary school through High School. I maintain an average of B's or higher. For the past two years I have gotten the Principles honor award. This past water polo season 2018-2019 I received the Coaches award. 2019 swim season I got the most spirited award. This 2019-2020 season I got awarded MVP. Then on top of that in the 2020 season I got CIF San Diego Section City League 1st team, and 2020 CIF San Diego Section Division two, second team.
I graduated Point Loma High School and now I am off to play water polo at community college; San Diego Mesa. I am really grateful to play at the community college level because I was able to get a taste of what it was like playing at a college level with balancing practices and school work. Was a fun challenge to do. I did actually pretty well, I didn't think I could manage my time but I was able to do it fairly easy. At Mesa my coach put me as the starting Point Guard because he thought I was more suitable for that position. Through out the season I used the skills that center defenders used against me that I didn't like or stopped me pretty well. Then used it against my opponents, as I learned what tactics worked best and which ones didn't work as well. I was able to use my voice and kind of quarter back the defense. Academically I am a sophomore at Mesa, however due to COVID, there was no water polo for my first year at Mesa. So I am hoping to transfer after this year, however if I don't get recruited I will stay at Mesa a third year. Or second year for playing wise.
