Personal Statement
I started playing water polo in my sixth-grade year, at the Naval Academy. I played there for six years but recently moved across the country to California, without my dad, mom and siblings. I moved in with my grandmother so that I would be able to play and improve in water polo in a more intensive way. I am eager to find a good sense of change in whatever college I attend. I aspire to become a biomedical engineer or work in sports medicine. I want to help athletes and/or people who have struggled with similar aspects of anxiety, ADHD, and depression that I have when it comes to their sport and life.
I would be a great candidate for your team because of my wide set of skills both in water polo and out. I have a lot of heart when it comes to this sport. I have gone through many struggles with it but I never stop wanting to play. I have been playing water polo with 18-year-old boys since I was 12, and have gone through a lot of vigorous training offered by USAWP. Making the national teams for my age group, going to Spain and playing their national team, and attending the USAWP Academy. I feel as though I have been a force to grow up from a young age and that makes me a natural leader in many environments I step into. I love this sport and no matter how many struggles I come across with it, all I want to do is play. No matter how many times I've thought "ok I can't do this anymore, it's too much" I can't quit. Seeing those commercials of the Olympic athletes, or any highlight of an athlete who is the best at what they do inspires me to take this sport as far as I can.
