Personal Statement

Hi! My name is Schuyler Parker, and while I may only stand 5'4", I can promise you - I don’t play like a 5'4" athlete. In fact, one of the things I hear most often from coaches is, “You play a lot bigger than you are.” I take pride in that. It speaks to the way I approach the game: with an intense work ethic, a drive to constantly improve, a high water polo IQ developed over 10 years, and an attitude that pushes me to the next level. Water polo isn’t just something I do - it’s a core part of who I am. It has shaped my identity, taught me how to lead and how to persevere, and shown me what it means to fully commit to something bigger than myself. I’m passionate about the sport and about continuing my journey at the highest level by playing Division 1 water polo. What sets me apart isn’t just how I play, but how I prepare. Whether it’s lifting weights, tough swim sets, or running drills over and over until they’re second nature, I show up every day with a mindset focused on getting better. I know what it takes to be a D1 athlete - early mornings, late nights, traveling for games, the pressure of competition - and I am excited for all of it. Academics are equally important to me. As a neurodivergent student with dyslexia, I’ve had to work extra hard to stay ahead, and I’ve consistently maintained a high GPA (3.95 unweighted) while balancing a demanding sports schedule (varsity swimmer and basketball player). That challenge has only made me more disciplined and resilient. I know that succeeding in the classroom is just as critical as performing in the pool, and I’m proud of my ability to thrive in both environments. I’m confident that my dedication, grit, and love for the sport make me a strong fit for a Division 1 program. I’m ready for the commitment, the challenges, and the rewards that come with being a collegiate athlete - and I’m excited for the opportunity to bring my energy, heart, and hustle to the next level.

  • ----Fun Facts About Me----
  1. Most people mispronounce my name and call me "Shoe-ler".
  2. My favorite food is dumplings; I may look like Po Ping from Kung Fu Panda.
  3. I vacation every summer at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire.
  4. I can fall asleep anywhere: planes, restaurants, waiting rooms.
  5. My dad is Peter Parker.
