Personal Statement
Being a starter for the Varsity 1 team is an honor, and privilege, however, I didn't start out that way. I first fell in love with water polo in 7th grade, when some friends dragged me to tryouts. As I came to learn more about the sport I knew it was my passion, even though I didn't know how to swim, and was by far the worst player on the team. The first couple of years were rough, but by joining a swim club, committing to every practice, and working hard outside of season to get better, I've striven to develop the skills necessary to become the best utility player I can.
Water polo has taught me how to balance sports with succeeding in school, serving God, and prioritizing my family. Becuase of water polo failure has become a close acquaintance. In the past, it sometimes has been hard to choose to stay home from a super cool trip so that I can go to practice or to work through the drama that comes from 15 girls that are together so often, however, the reward is so worth it. I realize that there is so much more I can learn about this sport that holds a special place in my heart and am looking for an opportunity to tap into my potential as a college player.
