Personal Statement

I first discovered water polo my freshman year of high school as I wanted to try something new other than swim team. What I quickly discovered was a passion for the sport, and a deep desire to understand the strategic dynamics of the game!

I have found that my natural high intensity, combined with the technical understandings of the sport has shortened my gap in playing experience, especially while having the State of Oregon shut down over COVID. I watched and studied film, worked out daily, and did drills on my own, in preparation for when I could hit the water again, and placed myself  ahead of my peers when we could get back in the water again, due to my commitment to growth, while we were shutdown.

My strengths lie in seeing the entire course and recognizing what needs to be done, regardless of defense, assists, or scoring.  I am always trying to find a way to make my team better and execute with efficiency. I enjoy studying the sport as much as I do playing it, and my goal is to help everyone around me grow, no matter which team I play for, whether high school, club, or ODP matches.

My desires educationally are to pursue a business degree and potentially go into my Father's business, mortgage lending. My attitude toward my learning is simply, to do my best and show that I care. I may not always understand, but my parents always say that "We do hard things" and it's a mantra I have come to agree with in my own life.  Leaders do hard things, and they show others around them how to do it.

I am excited to see where water polo will take me, and how it will shape my future personally, academically, and in leadership!

Academic Accomplishments

Are you in honor classes?
Yes. An Ambleside Education is characterized by a broad, varied curriculum of inspirational and disciplinary subjects through direct encounters with living books and the teaching of daily habits, which benefit students for years to come. The Ambleside method and philosophy are similar to a collegiate level honors program as the students engage in daily discussion, and written narration responses participating in a broad range of subject matters. Due to the broad nature of the Ambleside curriculum, an Ambleside student will take more courses and complete more than double the credits of the average Oregon high school student.
Are you in AP/IB classes?
No
Registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center?
Yes
