- 2020 Highlights #2
Personal Statement
I have been playing water polo for 5 years with Viper Pigeon water polo club as well as Southside water polo. I have participated with USA water polo’s Junior Olympics 3 times. ( 2017, 14U viper pigeons, 2018 14U Menlo Mavericks, 2019 18U viper pigeons) I entered my Freshman year of high school (Lamar High School HISD). I was the only Freshman on Varsity We were 5th in our region, missing the state tournament by one place. February, the 2020 water polo season began, and I was a starter. This year we only had nine games because our season was sadly cut short because of the Coronavirus Pandemic. We had not lost a game, and even with only a fourth of the games I played in the year prior, my stats improved by double in goals and shot percentage and my assists, steals, and forces were also much higher than at this point in the season last year. I have never been the fastest lane swimmer. I only started swimming to better improve myself for water polo. I full heartedly believe that I can make down a counter at a much faster rate than I can dive off a block and swim to the wall. My academic history is also pristine. As of the end of of my sophomore year, I hold a 4.61 weighted GPA and a 3.94 unweighted. This makes me an honor roll student. I am also on the road to being an IB Diploma candidate with most of my classes being IB courses and if not than they are AP) which count for college credit. Not only do I have great academics and a long history with this sport, but professionally I have made a name for myself. I held an internship at Fullenweider Wilhite Family Law for the summer of 2019, and was a lifeguard at the Willow pool in Houston Texas for the 2020 summer and will resume my position in summer 2021. Now, during the school year I work for the YMCA as well as continuing my school work and swimming/ water polo season. I am also involved in the National honor society and am a traveling manager for the Lamar High School swim team (as well as being an actual swimmer)
