My name is Halle O’Neal, I’m a senior at Brighton High School, and will graduate in 2019. I did gymnastics for 11 years and was preparing for level 10 when an ongoing injury caused me to have to quit gymnastics. I decided to try water polo in the summer of 2017. I ended up absolutely loving it and I played on my high school's varsity team in Spring 2018 as a sprinter, wing, and driver. I have also done some goalie training and am now the substitute, varsity goalie. I realize I started later than most, but am improving everyday. I have a great new coach this year who is teaching me a lot of new skills. I love the team atmosphere and the challenges of water polo, including the competition. I also swim for my high school swim team and am also continuing to improve, especially in my sprinting (my main focus) and butterfly.
I am a little undecided as to what I will major in, but right now my biggest interests are in Psychology and Pre-Law. I am looking for a school that offers both of these fields of study, but understand my decision on what to major in may change with time and experience.
Gymnastics is a mentally and physically challenging sport that I was a part of for 11 years. I understand what it means to work hard and to be mentally tough. Although new to water polo, I know I am someone who will continue to grow and improve in my skills. I am excited for an opportunity to play at a university level and hope to find a school that fits both my academic and athletic hopes.
