As a young latina in a male dominated sport, I aspire to make a change in the world one step at a time. I have broke the feminine standards in my family by joining a sport that young ladies “should not” be participating in and hope to continue breaking this standard by becoming apart of a college wrestling team. I am a hard working student who’s goal is to become a great teacher (and hopefully a coach as well) for students who need a supportive figure in their life and to encourage them to go on the right path. Although I am a mean and rough opponent on the mat, I am a very caring and loving person that only wants to be a positive influence on the people around me. What makes me different from other recruits is that I am willing to do everything in my power to get a future in higher education as well as the college sports world. Whether it is taking more AP classes, going to tutoring, getting more involved in school, joining a club team, working out even more, I will do it all to be given an opportunity to prove I deserve a spot on a women‘s college wrestling team. I know many coaches have heard this before but the difference is I keep my word and I will show you every day I have said nothing but the truth in this statement and will not disappoint you.
