Personal Statement
Wrestling isn't just a sport to me, it is not winning is the ONLY option. Yeah, It feels great to know all my hard work is finally paying off, but I think the reason why I love wrestling is how it applies to life. Wrestling has opened my eyes in many ways, I've learned how to get out of my comfort zone, take chances, knowing that if you don't try, you will never know and most importantly I feel that wrestling has impacted the way I see and analyze situations. I felt that the fundamentals of wrestling has also helped me go through with the decision of my future career: to become a fashion director and produce a fashion business.
The people around me, my teammates, coaches, trainers, and my family are all a part of my support system, my team. My idea of a team is that everyone is a part of the accomplishment, even if I am not on the starting line up, or not able to compete, I am there as a body, not only to help myself but the person before me. I tend to see my successes through my teammates. For example, sophomore year, I came up short at states. However, my partner became a state champion, and for me, I felt that I had a contribution in her success which makes me feel very happy. I really believe that being on a team means we are all on the same train.
An all-around athlete? I would say I am exceptional. I have consistent grades. I manage my school and personal life quite well. I would say I have a knack for helping people and I really enjoy seeing other people happy. I am a very outgoing person, I tend to try and create happy vibes because I feel that a person's aura (emotions, facial expressions, body language, and feeling) really impacts and determines the mood of the room.
Overall, my goal in college is to do the things I love, no regrets, just do it. To wrestle, to make connections, to make mistakes, to graduate, and to succeed.
