My name is Isabella, and I have been wrestling since fifth grade. I started wrestling on the varsity wrestling team for my school in eighth grade. During my freshman year wrestling season, I had a 10-13 record against boys from the friends' school league. I went to my first all-girls tournament in NJ and placed 3rd. I also went to the Prep School Nationals at Lehigh University and wrestled in the girl's bracket. I came in 5th, and I was just short of placing on the podium. I am also the first wrestler (male or female) in my teams history to win a match at the National Prep Tournament (that takes place @ Lehigh University). I can not wait to get back on the mat this year, so I can reach the goals that I have set for myself. One of the reasons I want to wrestle in college is because I want to wrestle on an all-girls team with coaches that know what the female competition is like. The reason I wrestle is because wrestling makes me who I am, and I would not be the same person if I had not joined the team in fifth grade. I also love practicing with my team and pushing my teammates so they can be the best that they can be and achieve all of their goals.
