I have been wrestling since the sixth grade. I have been taught by several very talented coaches and after having some success in my first few years of on the mat, I decided that I would like to wrestle in college. I very much enjoy the challenge that accompanies wrestling every single day, whether in lifting, running or wrestling practice, and I like to aspire to be the very best wrestler I can be. I have found success on the mat with my sweep singles and as a leg man on top. In the classroom I study hard so I can have the opportunity to go to most or all colleges (as my Dad always says "Never let someone else shut a door for you"), and later have a successful career as an engineer. During my off time, I enjoy going out on a lake and either tubing, or wake boarding with some friends. Other than wrestling, I also have played football for 9 years, and I have found that directly and indirectly the skills and mental fortitude I have acquired through wrestling have aided me in that challenge. I like to lead by example, and make my voice heard when necessary. I would like to attend an academically challenging college, where I could wrestle and set myself up for a promising engineering career in the future.
Last year, after becoming a Fargo Finalist I charged through my Junior year with a torn labrum (shoulder). It was a tough year to say the least, but I was focused on being there for my team and postponing surgery. After wrestling season we discovered during surgery that my labrum was completely torn and hanging by a thread. Thanks to a great surgeon and physical therapy I am back stronger than ever! During my injury and recovery I realized how much I love this sport!
