Personal Statement
My name is Cole Williams and I thrive on one-on-one contact - so much so that I started getting involved with football and wrestling when I was eight years old. I enjoy the physicality of both sports and get hyped when facing off with an opponent. The many coaches and mentors that have journeyed with me along my path have encouraged me and helped me develop my physical skills, mental skills and strategy.
My goal is to be an integral part of a college wrestling team. For years, I have continued my wrestling training during the off-season and will continue to do so until I graduate from high school. I have never been afraid to put in the extra work; it’s not easy, but the extra effort is worth it.
I would describe myself as strong, tenacious, hard-working, and persistent. Not only do I put in the extra work, but I put up a good fight to the end. As a Freshman, I was a State Qualifier, I placed 5th as a Sophomore, and placed 3rd as a Junior. My goal is to win State my Senior year. I am currently ranked #1 in State 7A at the 190 lb. weight class. Due to a change in weight classes in Georgia, I will likely be wrestling in the 215 lb weight class for my Senior year.
In an effort to help build my high school wrestling program, I am assisting the youth program coaches in inspiring and developing young wrestlers so that they want to continue and grow with the sport of wrestling.
Since I have started high school wrestling, I always carry around my lucky mojo necklace with me; it’s around my neck or in my wrestling bag. It is inscribed with the following: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” -Philipians 4:13. It’s become a personal mantra for me. I feel that I am blessed to be strong and skilled, and I try to use my “powers” for good and play a leadership role with my current high school wrestling team and those that are younger by inspiring in them a drive and love of wrestling.
