Hey! Thanks for checking out my profile!
My name is Thomas Peterson and I'm a wrestler for Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park Kansas. I'm currently a junior at BVNW. I have competed in 3 years of high school wrestling under coaches Tim Serbo and Zach Orrick where I have qualified for sub-state once, state twice, and have a regional championship to my name. I have an overall record of 77-43. Starting wrestling as a freshman in high school was tough, but I was able to in the midst of adversity make the varsity roster 3 years in a row and now lead the team in wins with 27 this year. I'm still learning and rapidly developing as a wrestler. I really enjoy athletics and am willing to do what it takes to be able to compete at the next level. My dream is to compete in college athletics. Also on top of loving wrestling, and playing football, I love academics. I make sure to put my grades and test scores at the top of my priorities with wrestling. Currently, I have a GPA of 4.17 and strive to do my best in all of my classes. I make sure to push myself like on the mat by taking honors and AP courses. I am currently taking AP Biology, AP US History, Honors Pre-Calc/Trig, and Honors Spanish 4. I have completed Honors Algebra II, Honors Chemistry, Honors Geometry, and Honors Biology. During the offseason, I make sure to stay busy and I do this by practicing and competing with Olathe West and Olathe South wrestling clubs, where I continue to learn the sport of wrestling in multiple different styles. Also during the offseason, I work two jobs to stay busy and to push myself. One is a Level 3 Crew member at Hawaiian Brothers Island Grill and the other is an umpire and referee for Blue Valley Recreation. Lastly, I make sure that I keep God number one. I spend my Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings learning, serving, and praising the Lord. I am extremely involved in my student ministry as well as my church in general Cross Points Church. I spend lots of my Sunday mornings helping out with the middle school service at my church and I also spend most of my Wednesday afternoons helping with our youth group XSM. I am also a student leader in the youth group and have done two internships with Cross Points Church totaling to over 200+ hours of community service. I plan on doing it again as well this year which will bring my total to over 300+ hours of service for my community. Along with this, I plan on going on a mission trip to Thailand to further grow and push my faith. I'm just a kid with a dream who prioritizes my faith, family, school, and sports and I am ready and willing to do what it takes to help your program be the best it can be. Thank you again for visiting my profile and reading my personal statement. Have a great day!
