Morgan Vandergrift '22 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Morgan Vandergrift! 

     I am a 2 sport athlete at Hereford High school in Maryland. Wrestling is my main sport.  My sophomore year, as captain of the varsity team, I won the Warpath Invitational, came in second in the county (later avenging this loss in the regional finals), won the regional championship, and I came in 4th in the state.  I started on the varsity wrestling team both my freshman and sophomore years.  My freshman year I was honorable mention in the county and I endured an unfortunate injury during my semifinals match and I was unable to continue my season.  My Junior year was largely unrecognized because there was no wrestling at the high school level during covid.  However,  I have been fortunate to wrestle for an invite only club team in Maryland where I have won several regional tournaments and have sought many good matches with the likes of defending state champions, and traveled out of state to compete in national tournaments. 

     I am looking to wrestle in college to pursue my passion for the sport and the atmosphere of a tightly  knit wrestling program. I have great leadership skills and help others thrive in a positive environment. I am a member of the FCA, and have been nominated for several leadership programs including HOBY and I was interviewed for Press Box Online  with Seth Tow.
