Personal Statement
In seventh grade I wrestled varsity for my high school team. My first dual meet I stepped out on the mat a skinny and lanky little boy up against the opposing teams senior captain. The match started with me getting head locked to my back and staying there for the entirety of the first period. The second and much of the third periods went the same way until with 30 seconds left, down 15-1 I was able to overcome exhaustion. I caught my opponent in a cradle and pinned him. This one moment has set the tone for the rest of my career as a wrestler, a student and as a person. Wrestling has taught me that in any aspect of life if you put in the work the results will come over time. This is the mentality I take whenever I set about doing anything, whether it be a small job like doing the dishes or a big job like studying for a big test. This has made me successful in my athletics and my academics.
I am fit to be a competitor and a leader at the collegiate level due not only to my athleticism but also due to my fierce competitiveness, my determination, and my work ethic in the classroom and in the mat room.
