Personal Statement
Hello and thank you for taking the time to view my profile. My name is Aaron Phillips and I’m a kid out of a small town called Bayville in New Jersey. I work the harder every single day to get better and always strive for greatness. I work the hard in school as well and I always keep my grades up. My freshmen year nobody thought that I would be a Varsiry starter, but I worked as hard as I possibly could and did the best I can to start. I finished my freshmen year on Varsity with not the best record of 3-11 with one pin, one OT decision and one forfeit. Sadly, my season came to an end before districts due to being hospitalized for double pneumonia. During that offseason and the time I had to spend in the Hospital was a time I got my mind right. At that time I felt mentally downed not because I couldn’t wrestle but because I couldn’t be there to support my team. Thinking about how I could have been that one voice someone could have heard and encourage them to get that match winning takedown actually upset me. During the time I had though I had a plan in my head to do better, kind of like a vision. I went into my Sophomore season with a great supporting team around me. My Sophomore year went better with a record of 7-11, but I am not even close to being satisfied. My sophomore year offseason I was healthy and actually able to wrestle and be there for my team. Especially because we were in a very thought districts and traveling far, we all knew that we needed to keep each other’s heads up. Going into districts I had a bye from Prelims, but unfortunately lost 0-5 in the quarter-finals. I knew I could have done better and this offseason I have worked harder than I ever have. I picked up more of a skill set and built my mental foundation. I have very high expectations for myself my Junior season and I hope to impress.
