Personal Statement
I am a Senior with an overall record of 99 wins and I am committed to wrestling in college. I am looking for a program where I use my skills and enhance the team as well as grow and learn from the experienced teammates and coaches. In addition, have played soccer, lacrosse, and finally commitment to only focus on wrestling in High School. I have been wrestling since age 5, with my current high school coach being one of my first coaches. I am open to learning, respectful, dedicated and determined to succeed as a wrestler. I enjoy being on the mat daily putting in my time and effort year-round to better myself. I look to surround myself with stronger athletes in order to get better. I compete in both folkstyle and freestyle tournaments. In 2017 I was a member of the NJ dual team and went to Fargo to wrestle freestyle. I am known for my quickness on my feet and my extreme flexibility. My goal is to wrestle in Atlantic City. After becoming sick my junior year, with the FLU mid-season and missing four weeks of practice, I came up short of that goal. I feel this set back has made me more determined than ever to accomplish my goal as a senior. I have decided to focus on training folkstyle all summer at Yale Street Wrestling club under Donnie Filippis, and together with my coaches, I plan to meet help my team have a winning season and reach my personal goals. At 130 pounds, I am lean and physically fit. I look to further my career in wrestling at the collegiate level.
I am also committed to my academics and look to continue my learning in college. I will look for a program in the Health Sciences field. I have 12 college credits from attending Raritan Valley community college studying exercise science/nursing taking classes in anatomy and exercise physiology. I am working on my OSHA ( Occupational Safety and Health Administration) certification and am a member of the HOSA- Future Health Professionals. I plan to pursue a career in the Heath science field. I come from a family of educators and athletes, so I get my passions from them.
My role models are my uncles, Jay and Brian Antonelli. They both wrestled for The Navy Academy and are currently still wrestling coaches at the Navy Academy and Blair Academy.
