I started wrestling about 4 years ago. It was after football season and I was looking for a sport that would keep me in shape. After the first couple of weeks I began to fall in love with the sport, I shifted my focus from football to wrestling that following year. My first and second year were a little rough, I was still new to the sport and had a lot too learn. The main thing my coaches would tell me, was that they loved my dedication. I started going to summer camps and off season training and put my full commitment into this sport. My Junior year I saw my hard work start to pay off. I made the varsity team, won more matches then I ever had (most by pin), took 2nd in my district (NM6A), and placed 6th in the state tournament. This pushed me to want to try harder and get better. I saw how much I improved in three years; that helped me be certain about wanting to wrestle at the higher level. Unlike most guys who started off in juniors, I have had only a few years of wrestling and I am not ready to stop. I want to push my self to see how much more I can improve and better my skills. What makes me different from other candidates is that I don't quit, I love to push harder, and put my everything out on the matt. My coaches adore this characteristic about me as I was awarded most heart 2 years in a row. Thank you for taking the time to read my statement, to whomever is reading this the one thing you should take away is that I will give my all and keep pushing to succeed.
