Personal Statement
Growing up I played numerous sports, wrestling, basketball, lacrosse, baseball, and football. At the end of my freshmen year, I decided my passion was wrestling. I have been wrestling since the age of six. Due to my more than ten years of wrestling experience, I have had the opportunity to learn many things from many different coaches. I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without their coaching and support.
My parents, including my siblings, have been my biggest fans and support team in my wrestling career. My parents, continuously driving me to and from private practices, at every match, ensuring I have the right nutrition, and even driving hundreds of miles for national, local and out-of-state competition to keep me active and improve athletically.
I have been on the Locust Valley High School Varsity Team since the eighth grade. Being on the Varsity Team at such a young age had many challenges; however, they have taught me to work harder to accomplish my goal. By my second year on the Varsity Team, I earned my first County Championships Title and became a State Qualifier.
My academics continue to improve each and every quarter. My weighted average now stands at 79 and continues to reach new heights. My teachers, guidance counselor, coaches, and parents have all taught me and continue to show me, different strategies to use in the classroom. My goal is to continue to advance while utilizing these techniques and learn new ways to improve academically further.
I'd like to enter into a career where I can help others, such as athletic training or sports management. I enjoy being around people, making friends, and helping others. My goal, as I grow throughout my college career, is that I learn new ways to help me become a better individual. I understand there’s a significant difference in athletics and academics going from high school to college, but I am ready for the challenge.
I am looking forward to the new opportunity provided by college coaches, a college team, professors, and new friends I make as I enter into my next chapter in life.
