Personal Statement
My name is Stephen Falkner. I am currently a Junior student-athlete at Louisburg High School. I have a weighted GPA of 4.344 and I am a 3-sport athlete, playing football, wrestling, and running track. I'm a genuinely enjoyable person, tending to put a smile on other people's faces and helping them feel accepted because that's just what I do. Not that this matters at all, I just thought it would be nice to throw out some of my personality to make me seem not as much like a robot.
In the 2019-2020 season, I was selected all-conference and was a state qualifier in the 195lb weight division.
In the 2021 season, I was injured in the state qualification match, straining the ligaments connecting my false ribs to the sternum, making me unable to continue. It killed me mentally and physically knowing that I should've been wrestling for a state championship on the 1A side of the state before going 2A the next season.
What I think makes me stand out from other athletes is my work ethic and how I carry myself. I am nothing like the typical high school student or athlete that you might could think of; abusing substances, partying, sitting around being lazy, failing classes. That is not me; I am the complete opposite. I never party, I'm self-motivated, I don't do any illegal substances, break any laws, and I do not get lazy ever, whether it is with sports or academics. I hold my own self to such a high standard because I know nobody else will
What stands out in a college for me is a strong psychology department and a strong wrestling program with team spirit from the athletes and people watching the match itself. I love work with the brain, so I would like to be able to go into some advanced degree or education in that as well. From the team spirit standpoint, I mean wrestlers that truly want to be there; wrestlers that work their bodies day and night to get better, but also take the smart precautions like they should to make sure they care about their academics and their well-being as well. This is what I believe a dedicated wrestler is like and I would love to be surrounded by these types of people; we would get along very well. If you could describe this as your program, I'm your guy to help fill a spot on the roster.
