Jacob Polansky '20 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jacob Polansky and I’ve been a martial artist for more than ten years now(Jiu Jitsu, Tae Kwon Do, Judo, etc.), though I’ve only been wrestling for the last three years. In just three short years, I’ve progressed from a JV 138 pounder my freshman year, to a state qualifying 145 my sophomore year, to a regional champ/state placing 160 my junior year. I recently finished out my senior season as a state runner up at 182. My coachability, determination, and rapid rate of progression despite my lack of experience sets me apart from the rest. 

Much of my success in wrestling can be attributed to my proficiency/experience in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and also contributes significantly to my unorthodox style. I prefer to wrestle on my feet; I run a solid attack series from the underhook position but also boast a nice head outside single. My unorthodox leg riding style from the top position is a product of years of Jiu Jitsu and throws most wrestlers off their game. 

As a captain of my team, editor for the school newspaper, and president of the Leesville Road Weightlifting Club, I distinguish myself through my ability to lead. When I set my mind to something, I obsessively work towards achieving it and don’t let up the pressure until I do. Perseverance, passion, and grit—that’s all it takes.
